In early 2025, I decided it was time to start something new. I had been writing on the Substact platform since April 2020, and I was increasingly interested in using that platform to share different kinds of work. Over a couple of years, I would release occasional audio posts, with field recordings I had made out in the world. Initially, I wasn’t that impressed with Substack as an audio publishing platform. I have since released two short films on the platform, and to be honest, I find it equally limited for video/film.
But, Substack have improved their audio syndication so now it is essentially a podcast platform, not just an email newsletter in which audio files can be embedded.
So, In January I started working on a new idea called “Lost in Conversation” which is a series of short (15-30 minute)recorded and edited conversations with interesting people doing interesting things. I’ve given myself no other guideline. The first episode was released on Substack on May 2, 2025, a Conversation with photographer Eric J. Meow, aka Conspiracy of Cartographers on the topic of Wandering. Eric was co-host of the All Through a Lens podcast.
