The historic St. Mary’s Mission in Stevensville, Montana was founded on September 24, 1841 which represents the first white, Christian settlement in the territory. The cyanotype process by which this image was printed dates back to 1842, which made it not only an aesthetically interesting way to render the subject but a historically suitable one.
